Federal background & paperwork
For sales and transfers that require a federal firearms licensee (FFL), the buyer (or transferee) must complete ATF Form 4473 and pass a National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) background check, unless a specific exemption applies under federal law. We run checks and complete paperwork in accordance with ATF rules and our FFL obligations.
You must present valid government-issued identification as required for the transaction type. False statements on federal forms are illegal.
New York State requirements (overview)
New York imposes additional requirements beyond federal law. Depending on the type of firearm and your circumstances, that may include:
- Handguns and certain other firearms: A valid New York pistol license (or other lawful authorization as applicable) is typically required before we can transfer a handgun to you. We verify credentials consistent with current law.
- Long guns: Purchases from an FFL are subject to applicable state background-check and documentation requirements. We follow the process required for each transaction at the time it is processed.
- Magazines, features, and regulated items: New York law restricts certain firearms configurations and accessories. We only sell and transfer items that are lawful for us to transfer to you under state and local law.
Rules can differ by location (for example, within New York City). If you are unsure what applies to you, call or message the shop before ordering or shipping a firearm to us.
Incoming & outgoing transfers
Incoming transfers: If another FFL or seller ships a firearm to us for you to pick up, we log it in, notify you when it is ready for transfer, and complete the same compliance steps as any other retail sale or transfer — including valid ID and background check as required.
Outgoing transfers: When we ship to another FFL on your behalf, we pack and document the shipment in line with carrier and regulatory requirements. Fees and lead times vary; ask for a quote before you commit.
What we won't do
- No straw purchases or transfers for someone who is not the actual buyer or transferee.
- No bypassing background checks or lawful waiting periods.
- No transfers we believe would violate federal or New York law.
